Welcome to Sweet Callings! I started this blog as a way to chronicle all of my baking adventures - delicious and disastrous. For as far back as I can remember, two things have consistently delighted me above all else: art and dessert.
When I was younger, I easily entertained myself with watercolors and a sheet of freezer paper on which I would create masterpieces to hang on the refrigerator. As I got older, my desire to create never ceased. I became interested in many mediums including acrylics, pastels, and oils. When I got to college, I honed my artistic skills as a graphic designer. The infinite possibilities in creating art are both intimidating and enticing, and are what keep me coming back for more.
What can I say about my love of desserts? Whether it was tasting snow cream for the first time as a child in small town Missouri, or devouring authentic baklava and tiramisu on a trip overseas, these small joys have added icing to an already delicious life.
Because of these things, it only took a moment for me to catch the decorating bug. I am constantly learning new techniques to try and new ideas to conquer. Thanks for joining me as I work to sharpen my skills in this delicious form of art!
